The process of creating a mask has several steps. It starts by choosing the general subject to be portrayed in the mask. Then, I do intense research, which includes reading about the subject, making drawings, imagining and observing. The nature of each piece is different and this determines the choice of materials. Once the ideas have crystallized, I build the actual mask. But in reality the mask is only completed at the moment I wear it. It is then that its true nature is expressed as it interacts with the real world.
